PUBLIC NOTICE: NEW COUNCILLOR SWORN IN DURING VIRTUAL COUNCIL MEETING

The Overberg District Municipality (ODM) welcomed a new councillor during a virtual council meeting held on 28 April 2026.
Cllr. Johannes Jacobus Syms of the GOOD Party was officially sworn in as a member of Council, replacing former councillor Bongani Sonqwenqwe.
Council extended its appreciation to Cllr. Sonqwenqwe for his service and contribution during his tenure, and welcomed Cllr. Syms to the institution. His appointment strengthens Council’s capacity to continue delivering on its mandate and serving the communities of the Overberg District.
The Municipality looks forward to Cllr. Syms’ participation in advancing service delivery and governance within the region.
