PROJECT NAME: Procurement of Back-Up Generators for Overberg Region

SUMMARY OF APPROVED SCOPE OF WORK PER PROJECT
As per business plan submitted on 3 March 2023, ODM to purchase and ensure the safe-keeping of three (3) 100 KVA generators for use by the District Municipality and the four (4) Local Municipalities in the Overberg region as and when required on a first come, first serve basis in response to the prolong load-shedding, thereby mitigating the impact on the provision of basic services and potential health risks.

The following equipment will be purchase:

• 1 x 100 KVA generator with 10 KVA UPS for Disaster Management Centre
• 2 x 100 KVA mobile back-up generators mounted on custom built twin axle trailers

SCM Processes in progress – details as follows

1. SUPPLY OF TWO TRAILERS TO MOUNT A 100KVA GENRATOR – Q24-2022/23 award letter issued on 18 April 2023 to Memotek Trading for R140 870.40. Order in process of issuing.
2. Supply and installation of three 100 KVA generators, one with 10 KVA UPS and the other two mounted on Trailers – Requisition 31683 approved on 14 April 2023. Order in process of issuing to Mbele Electrical – Tender 13-20/21

Estimated costs:        Generators = R1.45 million

Trailor’s = R150 000

CETA SKILLS PROGRAMS

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) in partnership with Cape Agulhas Municipality is offering the following Skills Development Programs in cooperation with the Overberg District:

INTERNSHIPS

Architecture (Relevant post matric qualification preferably a higher certificate/Diploma in Architectural Technology and associated fields)

Plumbing (Industry Recognised Training (Construction Education Training Authority approved); Passed Trade Test)

Road works (National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or a bachelor’s degree or Post Graduate Qualification)

Community house building (NQF Level 2, or Relevant Qualification)

Quantity Surveyor (A Professional diploma in Quantity Surveyor (RQS or ARICS); Construction Management or Architecture)

LEARNERSHIPS

Plumbing (Grade 9 Certificate. Life Orientation; English; Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy)

Building and civil construction (Grade 9 Certificate with a 50% pass in Mathematics)

Community house building (Grade 10; or Grade 12 Certificate)

SHORT SKILLS PROGRAMME

Electrical (Grade 10 / Grade 12 or Equivalent Qualification)

Carpenters (Grade 9; AET Level 4. General Education & Training Certificate (GETC))

Plumber (Grade 9 Certificate. Life Orientation; English; Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy)

Bricklaying (Grade 10 or Grade 12 Certificate; or Equivalent Qualification. GCSES in English / Mathematics)

Road works (Grade 10 or Grade 12; or Equivalent Qualification)

TVET PLACEMENT

Qualifications should be within the scope of Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) sector priorities, Finance and Infrastructure.
