The Western Cape Department of Health officially launch the province’s Phase 2 vaccination rollout on 17 May focusing on over 60s. The Phase 2 rollout will be launched in the Overberg on 24 May where the primary focus, through outreach teams, will be to vaccinate registered over 60s at Old Age Homes.
The vaccine roll out will initially be launched at Old Age Homes in the Theewaterskloof and Overstand sub-districts. By adopting this responsible approach, the Department will be able to identify teething problems and correct these so we can render a dignified service and shield those who are vulnerable. In the coming weeks more vaccination sites will come online, including Old Age Homes in the Cape Agulhas and Swellendam Sub-districts and public vaccination sites throughout the District. The Department will communicate as site come online and when over 60s who are not in Old Age Homes will be vaccinated. We ask that you do not come to a facility to receive your vaccination if you have not been contacted and received a SMS confirming your appointment date and time, as well as your unique code.
We urge the community to support us with the vaccination roll out. If you have family or friends who are over 60 years, please help them to register on EVDS. Our community health workers will also be moving around in the community to assist people who is 60 or older to register. Assistance with registrations will also be offered at venues across the Theewaterskloof Sub-district, information pertaining to these venues can be found on the municipalities social media pages.
To register, please visit www.westerncape.gov.za and click on the link, or Dial *134*832# and follow the prompts (FREE on all South African Networks), or WhatsApp the word REGISTER to 0600 123 456

• An SMS confirming your registration.
