IDP / BUDGET / PMS TIME SCHEDULE OF KEY DEADLINES 2026/2027

Notice is hereby given in terms of the Local Government Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003 (Act 56 of 2003) that an IDP/Budget/PMS Time Schedule of Key Deadlines for the period 2026/2027, in preparation for the 2027/2032 Integrated Development Plan, was adopted by Council on 27 July 2026.

The IDP/Budget/PMS Time Schedule can be viewed on the Municipality’s website at www.odm.org.za.

The Overberg District Municipality hereby advises the public that, following consultation with the Western Cape Government: Department of Infrastructure and representatives of the Tesselaarsdal community, Proclaimed Divisional Road DR1257 (Hartebees Access Road), from the intersection with Hemel & Aarde Road to the Solitaire/Tesselaarsdal turn-off (km 11.00), has been temporarily closed for the remainder of the winter rainfall season while construction works continue.

Recent and continuous heavy rainfall has caused sections of the newly constructed gravel wearing course to become saturated and extremely slippery under wet conditions, creating a significant safety risk for road users.

Motorists are therefore requested to make use of the alternative route via Proclaimed Divisional Road DR1252 (Dunghye Park Road), as indicated on the accompanying route map.

Road construction activities will continue during this period, and all road users travelling in the vicinity are urged to exercise caution, obey all temporary traffic signs, and adhere to the posted speed limits.

The Overberg District Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks residents, businesses and road users for their patience, understanding and cooperation.

The road will be reopened as soon as weather conditions have improved and it is safe to do so.

The Overberg District Municipality is pleased to announce that all cleanup and repair work at the Malgas Pont has been successfully completed.

Following the recent flood damage and subsequent recovery efforts, the Malgas Pont will officially resume full operations from Thursday, 23 July 2026.

Operating Hours:
Monday to Sunday, 06:00 – 18:00 (Weather and daylight conditions permitting.)

The municipality extends its sincere appreciation to residents, businesses and all road users for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the recovery period.

A special word of thanks is also extended to the Overberg District Municipality Roads Department for their outstanding commitment and professionalism during the cleanup and restoration operations. Their dedication and tireless efforts have ensured that this vital river crossing has been safely restored for the benefit of the Malgas community and all who rely on this important transport link.

The Overberg District Municipality thanks everyone involved for making the successful reopening of the Malgas Pont possible.
